I’m NY Lisa and I love Metal Detecting! I discovered the hobby back in 2010 and have been hooked ever since. Metal Detecting gives me a rich sense of joy. I just love the hobby! I love the intense thrill of the hunt and the rush of anticipation that comes with getting your coil over a good sounding signal. I have certainly dug my fair share of trash over the years. I have also been blessed with finding some really cool pieces of history too. Relics are my favorite items to find. The older the better.
There is something very special about pulling an item from the dirt and being the first person to hold it in your hand since the day it was lost. It’s kind of magical really. Each piece of history has it’s own unique story. I often find myself wishing that I knew more about each of the items I have found. How did it end up where I found it? Who did it once belong to? What did the item mean to them? Did they cherish it? Were they heartbroken over losing it or did they simply not even notice that it was gone? Each piece we discover in the ground is a connection to the past. The story behind each item fascinates me. It’s a big part behind why I continue to detect.
I have been over to England to metal detect twice now. It’s an incredible experience, something worth experiencing more than once in your life hence the reason I have been there twice and hope to go again. Both times I have gone over with CT Todd’s barn and detected with the Colchester Treasure Hunting club. In England, the possibilities of the historic items you might find are endless. If you are passionate about metal detecting than England is the place to visit. Metal Detecting in England is well the experience of a lifetime. Walking across the beautiful countryside while swinging a detector is my idea of the perfect vacation.
